English Translation: Looking Skyward
Original Okinawan Name: Kushanku-dai
Information: Originally named Kushanku (or Koshokun), it was the only kata taught by Funakoshi Sensei for the first three years of training. It was named after the Chinese envoy Kung Siang Chun (aka Kong Su Kung, Kushanku etc, although this may not have been his actual name and instead just a title).
