Bedford Area Grading Report July 2025

Saturday 5th July saw the second grading of the year for the Bedford area. Students gathered

at our grading venue, St Thomas More.

We began with a training session. Kihon was done collectively for beginners right through to 1st

kyu, before splitting into smaller groups to go through kumite. To finish the session, we came

back together to go through kata up to Bassai Dai.

Next came the trophy presentations:

Brickhill - Adam and Erin Gold

Kempston - Donte Grace

Riseley - Layla Wyatt

The Dan grades quickly changed and then the gradings commenced. We returned to the older

way of doing a grading with different tables for different elements of the grading and a senior

grade table.

Overall, the standard of the grading was high and advice has been taken on board in the run up

to the grading. A big thank you to the Dan grades as always for their assistance in classes, the

pre-grading training and for marking papers. Thank you also to the senior kyu grades for

assisting in kumite across the grading.

Remember the feedback given and implement it in your own practice and for those that didn’t

grade maintain what you were doing in the build up as November will be here before you know

it!
