Shihan Michael Randall

Updated: Dec 21, 2021

A message from Renshi Kidby, June 2020.

I am saddened to have to report that Shihan Mick Randall has passed away in hospital due to pneumonia. 'Mick' has been a personal friend of mine for many years. I first trained with him in Kanazawa's SKI back in the early 1970's. Throughout my karate journey I have continued to train with him firstly quite regularly when in ESKA (now run by Sensei Mike Nursey), then when he ran his own association, SHOTO.

He has been a good friend of CFTS, visiting us to take a course annually until bad health got the better of him. We shall miss him; he is a sad loss to Shotokan and the wider karate family.

'Mick' was a true traditional, one of the first generation of British instructors and a keen follower of Kanazawa Hirokazu. They are now reunited in the dojo in the sky.

Rest in peace Shihan. Oss!
